About Us

Rooted in Orange County. Built on care.

Scarlet Psychiatry Nursing is a culturally-aware mental health practice led by Sandra Castillo, PMHNP — offering psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and honest, unhurried conversations.

Meet Sandra Castillo, PMHNP

Fourteen years of listening — and learning.

Sandra's path into mental health began quietly, in 2010, as a caregiver and medication technician at an assisted living facility. That first job taught her something she still carries into every appointment: people heal faster when they feel seen.

From there she trained as a Psychiatric Certified Nursing Assistant, then a Registered Nurse, then an ICU nurse during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic — followed by psychiatric travel nursing, home health, and years of teaching future nurses as a psychiatric nursing instructor. In 2024 she became a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and in August 2026 she begins her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Cal State Fullerton.

"I became a nurse to find purpose — to go home each day knowing I helped my community. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I get to keep doing that."

Our Why

Meeting people where they are.

Sandra grew up watching how beautiful culture can be — and how it can quietly delay families from understanding what a loved one is going through. Mental health, in particular, gets lost in translation across generations, languages, and traditions.

Scarlet Psychiatry Nursing exists to bridge that gap. Every visit is built to feel less like a clinic and more like a conversation: unrushed, judgment-free, and shaped around who you actually are — your background, your family, your goals.

And a small piece of trivia she's happy to share: her very first job was serving cold prepared food at Whole Foods Market in The District — white chef jacket and all. Every step of the way has been about people.
